Digital, experimental, interactive and technology-assisted storytelling — and the workshops of DGI Academy.
As we expand this work, we continue to collaborate with a growing network of partners — including the 687 Association in Cologne, Mathare community spaces, Nafasi Arts Space, and public schools — strengthening our programs and deepening our impact across communities.
In 2015, workshops were held by a team of East African and European artists and coaches in Cologne, Nairobi and Dar es Salaam. They developed different ways of storytelling. Personal views and contributions of each individual, as well as an artistic approach, formed the basis for intense interaction and diverse, thought-provoking stories.
These stories were developed during various encounters using the “Digital Storytelling” method. All stories are short, realistic and nonfictional. Individual and personal, they tell of our diverse lives.
The Dgicollektive Team and NFPMA festival offered the possibility for an »Urban Exploration« and the creation of the music and dance performance »What is love?«. Big topics come along with big questions. Answers are many, some of them were found during intercultural and interdisciplinary work in Nairobi.
The stories
Programme
A creative media programme delivered in your school, helping learners turn their own experiences into spoken stories, photographs and films. Learners build communication, collaboration and creative judgement, with age-appropriate guidance on digital and AI tools.
Your school provides a suitable room, a laptop, a projector or large screen, and a teacher who attends each session. Shared production equipment is supplied through the Digi Box loan. We begin with a conversation about your learners, timetable and resources.
School Information Pack: PDF, 6 pages, approximately 303 KB.
A 25-minute conversation commits you to nothing. Programme configuration and pricing are provided after a school readiness assessment.
Workshops in AI-driven storytelling, filmmaking and digital creativity — for students, teachers, corporate teams and creative minds. We run them as after-school programmes, holiday sessions and corporate team-building, and tailor every workshop to the group.
