DIGITAL STORYTELLING AT DGI COLLEKTIVE IS A DYNAMIC CRAFT THAT USES DIGITAL TOOLS TO ILLUMINATE LIVED EXPERIENCES, COMMUNICATE POWERFUL THEMES, AND EVOKE EMOTIONAL RESONANCE IN WAYS THAT FEEL BOTH PERSONAL AND UNIVERSAL.
As we expand this work, we continue to collaborate with a growing network of partners — including the 687 Association in Cologne, Mathare community spaces, Nafasi Arts Space, and public schools — strengthening our programs and deepening our impact across communities.
STORY CRAFT
Tanzania
In 2015 workshops were held by a team of East African and European artists and coaches in Cologne, Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam. They developed different ways of storytelling. Personal views and contributions of each individual as well as an artistic approach formed the basis for intense interaction and diverse and provoking stories.
Kenya
The Dgicollektive Team and NFPMA festival offered the possibility for an »Urban Exploration« and the creation of the music and dance performance »What is love?«. Big topics come along with big questions. Answers are many, some of them were found during intercultural and interdisciplinary work in Nairobi.

CODING BASICS WITH AI
Forget coding from scratch. Our workshops teach you how to utilise AI code editors to supercharge your workflow. Participants gain foundational coding skills while enhancing productivity, whether for school projects or workplace applications.
DIGITAL STORYTELLING USING AI
Master storytelling techniques with AI that open doors to new opportunities. Designed for schools, particularly language teachers, who want to adapt fresh storytelling methods. Adults can also benefit by exploring innovative ways to express personal narratives.
VIDEO AND PHOTO EDITING USING AI
A hands-on session in AI-assisted video and photo editing, helping participants create polished stories with visual effects, audio and cinematography. A must-have skill for storytelling, content creation and filmmaking.
PUPPETRY
Led by Gitonga, this workshop takes participants on a creative journey in puppet construction, manipulation and performance. Puppetry fosters communication, boosts confidence and unlocks creative expression — engaging for storytelling and therapeutic development.
VIDEO PRODUCTION: FROM SCRIPT TO SCREEN
Participants develop short skits, film them, and experience the editing process. A comprehensive introduction to video production, for those keen on storytelling and digital media.
PHOTOGRAPHY: THROUGH THE LENS OF AI
Conceptual and creative photography for kids and students, incorporating AI tools. Their work is exhibited at our biannual Breaking Bias Photography Exhibition Series.
